The combine has past and mock draft experts (like myself) are starting to formulate their first round or revising it. I love to evaluate quarterbacks and determine where they should be drafted, but this year I seem to be the only one who apparently has eyes to see. Allow me to explain:

I honestly have no clue what people see in Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen. I thought it was a mistake for him to leave school early, being as he had the opportunity to assert himself as a top tier quarterback in college football with the departures of Tebow, Bradford, and McCoy amoung others. If Clausen is so good then why didn't Notre Dame win more games? Why didn't he win any awards or bowls of note?
People love to harp on how he can "make all the throws" but what does that really mean? Can he literally throw every pass pattern ever thought of by man? Arm strength is a useless intangible, I mean go ask Jay Cutler about his arm strength and then you'll see what I mean.
And there's also the matter of his wonderlic score. To put it in perspective-Sam Bradford scored a 36 which was the highest among quarterbacks, and Tim Tebow scored a 22 which was one of the lowest. Now knowing this, compare Jimmy Clausen's 23. Exactly.
I rest my case.

Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-79101191865644362122010-01-05T17:31:00.000-08:002010-01-05T19:50:41.251-08:00Please Come On Back To Me, I'm Lonely as Can Be, I Need You.Today here at ranting and raving, it's all about America's past time.

Andre is ready, are YOU?
I thought so. Well worry not. In the bleak time leading up to the glory that is opening day, I'll fill you in on all you need to know. Starting of course with the only team that matters-The Dodgers.

It was a tough year for the Dodgertown faithful, after a promising beginning to the season, the Dodgers could only offer another NLCS defeat at the hands of the Phillies. (which only gives me another reason to hate all Philthy sports teams) Dodger fans are forgiving people and the focus has now shifted to this coming season.
The primary concerns for the Dodgers coming into spring training has got to be the pitching staff. It was a solid unit through the beginning of last season, but after the all-star break it fell apart.

Yea that's right. We're looking at you Billingsley.
He was the main culprit of some bad pitching after the all-star break and it seemed like he wanted why he SHOULDN'T have been selected to the all-star team in the first place. But alas, he wasn't alone.

EXHIBIT A: JOHNATHAN BROXTON

Broxton was also total crap after the break, and of all the pitchers a team needs to be successful, the closer is arguably the most important. That being said, towards the end of the season every time he came out on the mound I found myself groaning and preparing for the worst.

EXHIBIT B: HIROKI KURODA

Now granted, Kuroda was bothered by injury a lot last season, but even when he was healthy he wasn't quite himself. The game he pitched against the Phillies in the NLCS is perfect proof. That was one of those games that makes you fell physically ill.

But what about the coming season?

The first matter of business is for the Dodgers to go out and get at least two STARTING pitchers. That means that if I see a James McDonald starting I'm going to pop a cap in someone. The one thing that frustrates Dodger fans more than anything is the management's inactivity in the free agent market. The divorce of the McCourts doesn't help matters, and certainly all the players that are coming up on arbitration isn't helping either.
As for the pitchers already on staff, look for one man to be on the mound come April.

You should all know him well by now (I talk about him all the time it feels like.)
CLAYTON KERSHAW.

Kershaw was the kid that could in 2009, going 8-8 with an ERA of 2.79 in 30 starts. His crowing glory was a killer curve ball that according to wikipedia is, "a 71-77 MPH curveball with a hard 1-to-7 trajectory (from the hitter's perspective)." It's such a threat that Vin Sculley dubbed it "public enemy number one" and earning him as many Sandy Koufax comparisons as he could handle. To top it off,
He's only 21 years old.

The Dodgers are going to need Kershaw to go beyond the curveball however, and develop his other pitches and learn to variate the speeds on them. He often fell victim to hitters locking in on his pitches about three times through the lineup and exposing them. He has all the makings of one of those one-in-a-million aces, but he still has a way to go.

Look for the Dodger pitching to be solid again, but if they want to bring L.A. the pennant it wants so dearly they need to sign more muscle and Kershaw is going to have to improve even more.

Enough about the pitching now, what about the infield?

The great bearded one knows, and he is willing to share.

The Dodger infield was solid all year, committing very few errors. It was also the scene of one of the bigger surprises of the season in second baseman Ronnie Belliard. James Loney was a stellar fielder as always, but they need him to put up big numbers with a bat like he did in 2007. At second base Blake Dewitt is expected to split time with veteran journeyman Jamey Carroll. Third base saw Casey Blake put up excellent numbers batting and solid fielding.

Now, to the outfield.

Ignoring the whole Rhianna-Matt Kemp thing, the outfield was probably the best of all the Dodger positions. Matt Kemp was a stud in center field in 2009, and he put up HUGE numbers with a bat as well. In right there was ANDRE ETHIER (who's name must always be typed in all caps because of his epic stature.) who was by far the best thing since sliced bread.

Either is one of those players that you would hate if he played for another team, but since he plays for your team you just laugh crazily as opposing pitchers get pwned by his skill.

Andre was a key cog in the 2009 Dodgers, hitting .272 with a career best 31 home runs and 106 RBIs, not to mention 4 walk-off home runs which is the most by any major leauge player since 1974.

What has your right fielder done lately?

And then there was left field.

2009 saw Man-Ram get a well known 50 game suspension for juicing. When he came back, he wasn't the hitter he once was and he struggled seeing the ball. Manny was never known for his fielding, but he sufficed. The real star of left field was actually his replacement, speedster Juan Pierre (who's now with the white sox.)

So, what can we expect from the Dodgers in 2010?
I expect a lot of the same, unless pitching is signed. I see Ethier and Kemp continuing to improve and Kershaw emerging as the #1 man of the rotation. There's always the possibility that the Dodgers get past the NLCS where they've faltered the past two years, and if they're ever going to go all the way, don't be surprised if this is the year.

Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-24488819254395747032010-01-04T13:55:00.000-08:002010-01-04T15:15:20.702-08:00So This is Christmas, and What Have You Done?
When you read this post you all should be thinking of the song "Mr. Now, being as I'm a fairly new Giants fan (this is my second full season rooting for them) I've become accustomed to winning. So, naturally 8-8 is a big let down for me and the rest of Giants nation.
It was a season that held such promise but quickly evaporated into such crap that I no longer became disappointed when they lost. I came to expect it.

It all began with the Saints obliterating the G-men on their way to 13-0. I had never seen them go down so hard, so I also took it hard. From then on the Giants plummeted, going from one of the best to one of the worst, and the words "Bill Sheridan" became four letter words.

The woe continued with the Philthydelphia Igglets sweeping them under the carpet in two blow-outs, a last second loss to now playoff bound San Diego, most recently a blow-out to Minnesota, an embarrassment against Carolina when they were literally fighting for their play-off lives, a Thanksgiving loss to the equally suckish Broncos, and one to the Cardinals.

Now, who's to blame for the misery of this season? I go back to those two dirty words. Bill Sheridan.

I was highly disappointed to turn on ESPN this afternoon and only see that the Giants "are expected to fire" him. CAN HIS TRASH NOW. Tom Coughlin needs to stop beading around the bush and own up and fire him. Now granted, his cause wasn't helped at all by the injuries they suffered on defense (*cough* Kenny Phillips *cough*)

That man right there would have helped them immensely. THAT IS HOW TO TACKLE A WIDE RECEIVER.

I don't think that the players helped his cause either. The linebackers looked slow and couldn't cover a bed with a blanket, and the defensive line couldn't pressure a fifth grader. The main issue however, was the secondary. They practically stood there and handed out touchdowns to anyone who remotely resembled a wide receiver. HOWEVER, I don't think the players bought into Sheridan AT ALL and frankly, he couldn't call a defense if Spags was standing next to him telling him what to do.

One could possibly place the blame on Gilbride, but that's a bit of a stretch. The offense often had to play from way behind and it isn't built to do that.

But, of all the darkness that was this season, there was a lone brightspot who really, in my opinion, earned all the money he's being payed.

When it seemed like no one on this stupid team had any desire to win, Eli was always out there giving his all. He had arguably the best season of his career and yet he won't get a shot at ring number two because it's hard to orchestrate a win when your down 17-0 midway through the first quarter.

I was also pleased with the wide receivers which were the biggest question coming into the season. Steve Smith asserted himself as the #1 guy and had the best season of his career. It was also great to see the excellent play from rookie Hakeem Nicks (can someone say NFC ROY?) and the unknown Mario Manningham. It was not so great however to learn that Sinorice Moss was still busy being a waste of a roster space and that Dominick Hixon was still being thought of as a wide receiver.

In summary, I don't worry too much. What's done is done and there's nothing I can do to change that. The G-men will be back, stronger than ever I have a feeling. They'll work out the kinks and they'll also have big time players back from injury. Also, I don't know what kind of crap Plaxico has gotten himself into in jail, but he must have gotten into witchcraft because the Giants haven't been the same since he was all idiotic up in his leg's grill.

For a good laugh I recommend this video that depicts the situation better than I could ever hope to :D

Thank you for suffering through my rant, Happy Holidays to everyone and don't be too depressed at having to get back to normality after break.Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-91161628194923052542009-12-09T17:01:00.000-08:002009-12-09T18:30:57.241-08:00Awards Shows are My Own Brand Of Heroin. It was a sort of eventful day in the world of sports, and this post also includes my picks for the COLLEGE FOOTBALL AWARDS
because frankly, I love awards shows.

In college football news-The University of Tennessee is under investigation by the NCAA yet again. What's happened now you may ask? well it seems in order to get a step up on the Urban Meyer recruiting robots, Kiffin has turned to using "hostesses" to get recruits. Hostesses are not the snack cakes, but the practice of using pretty co-eds to get young impressionable recruits to come to your school. We don't know the entirety of the situation just yet, but considering this is Kiffin's 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000th violation and he hasn't been fired yet, I wouldn't expect too much to happen.

In MLB/News that makes me wanna cry news-Randy Wolf was signed to a three-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers today worth almost $30 million. We'll miss you here in Dodgertown U.S.A. and we wish you the best.

In NHL News-Hawks play the Rangers tonight.

Now, Its time for...college football awards
Presented by Jessica Alba apparently.Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-20190220128307850492009-12-08T17:25:00.001-08:002009-12-08T17:54:08.443-08:00All I Want For Christmas is...
YOU!! (aka Johnathan Toews)

Happy Tuesday all! I hope yours has been better than mine (food poisoning, not fun.) I wish there was a good hockey game on tonight, but sadly the Hawks don't play until tomorrow and even then I don't get the game. (My kingdom for NHL center ice!)

In college football news-the heisman finalists were announced and they were exactly who I said they were.
Toby Gerhart
Colt McCoy
Mark Ingram
Tim Tebow
Ndamukong Suh
I'm really going to miss college football occupying my Saturdays. There is always that void where College football ends, the NFL is winding down, baseball is still in it's off season, I can't quite bring myself to care about the NBA yet, and college basketball is in it's meaningless phase.

In Tiger Woods news-he's a scumbag.
Mysterious things keep happening to Tiger, the latest being his mother-in-law being taken to the hospital from his house. It's all just getting rediculous if you ask me.

NFL news-It's struggling to hold my attention for more than two minutes this season.
Where's T.O. when you need him!? Seriously, if the NFL gets any more boring it's going to collapse on itself. Chad Ocho Cinco is the only entertaining thing about this season. Between having to listen to Rodney Harrison's stupid opinion and having to watch lame crappy teams play in prime time, I'm about ready to switch to Canadian football.

Back to the NHL-Hawks still flying high, Brodeur is chasing records, I still hate the Avalanche, and Sidney Crosby is back after conspicuoulsly missing the game against the Hawks.

And now I leave you with Tuesday Toews:
Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-27707636311643443372009-12-07T14:12:00.000-08:002009-12-07T14:49:05.262-08:00December, How You Are My Favorite Month! It's finally good to be a Giants fan again! My G-men swept the cowgirls under the rug last night and were able to reassert themselves in the playoff race. The defense looked better than they had in recent games, and were able to shut down a very good Cowgirl running attack. They just have to work on the pass defense and I think we'll be set!

In college football news, everything that was supposed to happen did.

Alabama took down the all mighty Florida offense, and Tim Tebow acted like a girl about it.
Texas held on against HUGE underdog Nebraska, sneaking away to join the tide in the championship game.
Cinncinatti also creeped away with a win against rival Pittsburgh, earning them a spot in the Sugar Bowl against St. Tim's Gators.

TCU and Boise state were sent to the Fiesta Bowl, which is nothing new for Boise, and exciting stuff for the Horned Frogs. That should be a pretty interesting game to watch to see TCU's dominant defense against the high octane Bronco offense.

My BYU Cougars were banished yet again to the Las Vegas Bowl against the Beavers of Oregon State-Their going to get their trash kicked. Oregon State looked really good against Oregon and could have been in the Rose Bowl right now.

And in C0llege Football awards news, the three finalists for the Heisman Trophy are going to be announced here ASAP.
The Candidates include:
COLT MCCOY, QB, TEXAS

McCoy has had a terrific season thus far, with the exception of the Big 12 Championship game, and now that Texas has their National Championship bid locked up, If I was him I don't think I would nessicarily want to win seeing the recent track record of Heisman Trophy winners in bowl games.

TOBY GERHART, RB, STANFORD

Gerhart is one of the dark horses in this years voting. Gerhart put up amazing stats this season on a Stanford team that not only upset one BCS hopeful, but two! There is no denying his legitimacy however, just ask Charlie Weis.

MARK INGRAM, RB, ALABAMA

After a phenomenal SEC Championship game, Ingram did all but cement his ticket to New York. I honestly don't see what the fuss is about with Spiller, one good game and he's crowned king? I don't think so. I'd also like to throw in a honorable mention to Suh, but I still don't think he's going to get it.Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-37690314117083643592009-11-09T12:40:00.000-08:002009-11-09T13:05:31.560-08:00Oh Spagnoulo, We Hardly Knew Ye.
Welcome all. I can't report that it's a particularly happy Monday sports wise, but the sun does still come up win or loose.

Now for the more pressing issue-
WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO MY G-MEN!?

They used to be a dominant running team with a good coaching staff and a defensive identity. Now what are they? a wussy finesse team that would rather play the odds than go for the win. After blowout losses to New Orleans and Philthy and losses to Arizona and San Deigo, what are we left with as fans?

Our head coach no longer has the heart to go for the win instead of playing the odds. In Sunday's loss to the Chargers the Giants had the ball on the Charger 13 yard line after a Rivers INT with a chance to put the game away. So what do the Giants do? They run the ball three straight times for no avail instead of putting the ball in the hands of Eli Manning who had had a hot hand all day. Kevin Gilbride did an okay job of playcalling, and Sheridan also had an okay day. This one has to be put on Coughlin who has the power to veto Gilbride or Sheridan. He can no longer rely on the mighty Spagnoulo defense stop the other team and I don't think he's realized it yet.
and he has to realize that time old addage-
"YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!!"

The Giants have to get back to playing Giants football. That means ramming the ball down the other teams throat for three quarters with Jacobs and then letting Bradshaw pop one in the fourth quarter. It also means playing good defense. That's how they got to the 2008 Superbowl and they've lost sight of it. Gilbride won't call a running play, Sheridan doesn't have a clue how to coach a defense, and Coughlin is a coward who would rather play the odds than put the game out of reach.

You don't play to kick the field goal! Hopefully this will wake up the management who will do something about the incompetence. Someone has to go, and I hope it's soon.

Shanahan anyone?
Remember this? He could bring this to NY!
Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-11495257711095920822009-10-08T13:54:00.000-07:002009-10-08T14:20:36.794-07:00I Know that My Life Makes You Nervous

Well, just call me Professor Trelawney. (I apologize for the lame Harry Potter reference) In my last post about the Dodgers and the Cardinals, I listed what I thought needed to happen for the Dodgers to win. Lo and behold, it did. I must be getting better at this.

The buzz is slowly starting to to wear off from the improbable Dodger win that saw the men in blue have dominating bats, and the Cardinal pitching fail epically. Randy Wolf pitched well enough to leave the game in the fourth inning with a 4-2 lead, after a Matt Kemp 2-run home run, a Casey Blake RBI, and a Rafael Furcal triple. Chris Carpenter started off bad and was never able to quite get his feet under him. By the time the sixth inning rolled around both starting pitchers were out of the game and the Dodgers were clinging to a 4-3 lead. They added one more run and hard as he tried, Johnathan Broxton couldn't blow the save. With the series now 1-0 Dodgers, we look ahead to today's matchup that pits the young gun Clayton Kershaw against The Cardinals Adam Wainwright.

Looking at the recent exercise in futility by the other pitchers on the Dodger staff, Kershaw appears to be the Dodger ace for the coming post season. With an ERA of 3.36, he's been able to manage games without digging himself too big of a hole. There were some games where he looked like a 21 year old and wasn't able to get his other pitches in for strikes, but every pitcher is going to have days like that.

In the end, if the Dodgers want to be successful against this powerful Cardinal lineup, they need Kershaw to perform well. He has the fastball and change up to compliment his devastating curveball, but as the great Vin Sculley said-
"You can have great stuff, but if you can't throw it for strikes its like having a rolls royce with the parking break on." (Funnily enough, Sculley was actually referring to Kershaw when he said this. It was after Kershaw had been taken out of a game in the third inning against the Padres.)
It's going to be crucial that Kershaw get's speed variations on his pitches so the Cardinal batters don't key up on him the second and third time through the lineup.

For the Cardinals, their pitching has to get it together. If the Dodgers keep swinging the bat like they did in game one, they can easily take over a game and jump ahead by a lot of runs very quickly. The Cardinals are also going to have to get Pujols going for them to have any sort of success.

If the Dodgers are going to win this game, they are going to have to do it behind the arm of Kershaw. He's got all the tools to achieve ace status, and this is going to be his first real test. Seeing as he's so young (the tender age of 21 for all those who have forgotten) he's also going to have to deal with nerves. If he can overcome that, and get his pitches in for strikes with lots of speed variation on them, I see no reason why the Dodgers can't take another one in Dodger StadiumKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-62963614903609265492009-10-07T18:37:00.000-07:002009-10-07T18:54:34.630-07:00The Post In Which Steroids are No Longer an Issue

Aaaaahhhhhhh, October in the Bronx. Yankee fans come filing into New Yankee Stadium to watch their team's inagural playoff game. If only the Minnesota Twins could have been as happy as them. The Yankees were freshly rested and rearing to go as Derek Jeter personally dismantled the Twins and said "Hello world! I am the MVP!" the Yanks fired on all cylinders and the Twins had no idea how to stop it. The crowd was into the game early after a Jeter two run homerun, and they never let up. Kate Hudson could be seen beaming with pride from the stands as she watched her boy toy conjure up 3 hits or so. (Yankee fans could be heard groaning as they cought sight of her) The Twins were never able to recouperate and ended up losing 7-2. It could be argued that god must be a Yankee fan, because he really, really, REALLY screwed the Twins by making them play today. Game two of this screwfest will be on Friday where I can't imagine the Yankees not winning.
Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-32500144753240181482009-10-07T14:39:00.000-07:002009-10-08T14:23:07.752-07:00You Ain't Happy Less You Got One
The time has come at last! Smell that fresh outfield grass! Feel the soft, warm infield dirt! Yes, the NLDS has arrived at last. As a proud Dodger fan, I, along with many others, were finally able to watch the Dodgers steadfast refusal to clinch the NL West come to an end behind the stupefying left arm of Clayton Kershaw. Whatever joy I was feeling was to be short lived however, when I learned that Albert Pujols and his Cards would be coming to town. Meanwhile I also observed the Detroit Tigers pull one of the more epic chokejobs I have ever seen. The Minnesota Twins were able to end their time in the Metrodome on a high note as they stole the game in extra innings. There was celebrations galore in the clubhouse, until they were reminded that yes, they would now have to travel to the Bronx. That however, was not the worst news the Twins received. No, they were then informed that they would be playing the next day against a freshly rested Yankee lineup. Yea, that can really suck the fun out of any celebration.
For now, let us travel back to the west coast and look ahead to the coming Game one Dodger Cardinals matchup.
Some Dodger faithful might tell you that the sky and oceans are blue because god is indeed a Dodger fan. If we look deeper, we then realize that no, god must not be a Dodger fan, because if he was he wouldn't have sent the Cardinals here in the first place, and he most certainly wouldn't have decided that it would be Chris Carpenter to start game one. What we now have learned is that god must actually be a CARDINALS fan. (Or a Yankee fan, but that will come later.)
At first glance one might say "Well, the Dodgers had a good run. It was fun while it lasted."
But wait! Upon further examination we learn that the Dodgers are not completely hopeless against the all mighty Cards!
After what I'm sure was many hours of careful deliberation and thought, Joe Torre saw fit to begin his umpteenth playoff run behind the arm of veteran left hander Randy Wolf. This is a good decision by Torre being as he doesn't have all that much to work with. Chad Billingsuck would do just that, Hiroki Kuroda is apparently hurt (again!?) Stultz can throw a knuckle ball and nothing else, Padilla is not a game one type of pitcher, and Clayton Kershaw can not pitch both games (as much as we might want him to)
Wolf is the veteran of the group, so we can suspect that he will be less susceptible to nerves than other Dodger pitchers. Wolf can't possibly be expected to win this game on his arm alone, so the Dodger's must get their big bats swinging early. The Dodger bat's come into this game limping, but they seem to be determined to start hauling in the runs. Batting is a whole other thing in the playoffs and the Dodgers should be helped by the return (return!?) of Andre Either.
The Cardinals obviously have all the tools to smash and sweep the Dodgers under the carpet. They have one of their best pitchers, they have an lineup that includes the human homerun machine Albert Pujols, and the rabid fanbase. If the Cards want to bypass this Dodger team without a second thought, their pitching has to perform. If the Dodgers power hitters get going early they could easily take a game. The Cardinals were able to manhandle the Dodgers in the regular season (with the exception of two games which if I'm not mistaken were won by messers Randy Wolf and Clayton Kershaw) despite a sup par Pujols. All in all, I think that this is going to be a close game. If the Dodger bats get going, and their pitching is able to hold, don't be surprised to see the men in blue take this one.

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-77099243156504884822009-10-06T15:01:00.000-07:002009-10-06T21:06:27.548-07:00Taking My Baby To Sophistication

My poor neglected blog! Oh well, I vow that I shall not let this happen again! Today we are reaching new levels of sophistication here at Ranting and Raving with the top 10 hottest QB's in the NFL.

10. Mark Sanchez-Now, I'm not exactly sure what it is I see in Mark Sanchez, being as I loathe the Jets with a passion. I'm thinking it has something to do with my love of all things southern Californian. In a blog that I was reading the other day, the author of a particular post stated that " USC recruits Abercrombie models and turns them into NFL like football players." which is the absolute truth. How else can one school get so many good looking quarterbacks?

9. Drew Brees- Once upon a time, there was a little girl. This little girl was young and stupid and had a desperate hope that the Philthydelphia Eagles would win an NFC divisional playoff game against the New Orleans Saints. This girl had a strange thing for Jeff Garcia which could not be explained. That girl was me. And to this day I can not explain what I ever saw in Jeff Garcia or his igglets. Alas, it was not all in vain as this game did teach me how hot Drew Brees is. I'm not gonna lie, its that scar/birthmark thing on his cheek that draws me in. It acts as a sort of dimple of sorts in my opinion.

8. Joe Flacco-If I could only get at this man with a pair of tweezers!! It would do such wonders! He's got everything to become one of the hottest QB's out there, except for that stupid unibrow thing that lingers above his eyes! Speaking of eyes, he's got some nice ones. I'm a sucker for a tall guy with dark hair and great eyes and Flacco is no exception.

7. Tom Brady-Brady is certainly not worthy of this lowly number seven spot, but I put him here because of general hatred and him being a scumbag. Brady has all the looks to be a number one, but I just can't get past that stupid cocky facade he calls a personality. ("We're only gonna score 14 points? hahahahah" *Que vomit sounds*)

6. Matt Schaub-This is is the inexplicable pick. I could sit here and talk until I'm blue in the face and not be able to tell you what it is I see in Matt Schaub.

5. Eli Manning- This is the semi-homer pick. Yes I have to put my beloved QB on this list but he does have the looks to merit a spot. Eli is obviously the more fortunate of the Manning brothers as far as looks are concerned (Be jealous Peyton) He has that cute boy next door who just happens to be an amazing quarterback kind of appeal.

4. Phillip Rivers- Eh, I have some

hesitance with this one. For one I'm not crazy about his southern accent (no offense intended to the lovely people of the south) and I really don't like the Chargers due to a Charger fan brother. But you look at him and you can't deny it. The man is hot. He's got everything required to make me swoon plus he's a great quarterback.

3. Matt Ryan- I'll be the first to admit that when Matt Ryan first came out I didn't think he was all that attractive. As time passed and as rookie quarterback records passed, I came to realize that Matt Ryan was truly quite good looking. There was actually some study done recently that ranked NFL quarterbacks on their hotness based on facial semmetry. Matt Ryan apparently has very good facial semmetry as he was ranked as the NFL's hottest quarterback.

2. Matt Cassel-It's becoming quite obvious to me that I have a thing for men named Matt and USC quarterbacks. Matt Cassel may have had to wait to get his start in the NFL, but it was worth it to unveil his good looks on the universe. He's got it all-dark hair, tall, pretty eyes ect. But nothing could quite compare to the inexplicable miracle that was BYU's win over #3 Oklahoma.
The game started off with OU having problems with penalties , most commited by their right tackle #70, Cory Brandon. The BYU defense forced the punt (OU has a punter?!) and put the ball in the hands of their offense. Max Hall was able to hand off the ball well to Sophmore running back Bryan Kariya which was really all he had to do on the first drive. Returned missonary McKay Jacobson also made his presance known with some nice catches. It was also Jacobson who would be partly responsable for BYU falling behind. The BYU defense forced another OU punt after OU continued to shoot themselves in the foot with penelties. Jacobson then proceeded to fumble said punt and give OU the ball in BYU territory. Sam Bradford, being the Heisman trophy winner, was able to drive the OU offense and score to make it 7-0. It was Bradford, who would ultimatley become the biggest story of the game. It started off innocently with Bradford dropping back to pass. He was then hit by BYU linebacker Colby Clawson. Bradford went down on his shoulder awkwardly and came up looking to be in obvious pain. It would later turn out that he had an AC shoulder sprain and would be out for 2-4 weeks. The game continued however, with Bradford only being able to watch from the sidelines. The game was a stalemate until late in the fourth quarter. BYU drove the ball down and took the lead on a touchdown pass to McKay Jacobson to make the game 14-13. OU had one more chance to keep its place amung the top 3 in the country. They drove the ball down, but were forced to kick a field goal. The crowd held its collective breath as it watched OU kicker Jimmy Stevens botch the winning score.

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-41228647587698134072009-08-31T13:13:00.000-07:002009-10-07T14:37:36.454-07:00We Gotta Get It Right Back To Where We Started FromIf there is one thing Dodger fans could learn from this season, it would be the fact that no matter how bad you may be doing at one point, it won't always be like that. With the game on Saturday against the Reds, we saw the Dodgers getting back to the winning form that they used to have. The starting pitching was a little rough, but it has been all season.
The game started off with Manny hitting a 2-run home run to drive in Rafael Furcal and make the game 2-o L.A. Mark Loretta added to this total with an RBI in the second inning. Then before you could even blink your eyes the game was 4-0 L.A.
Then came the third inning.
It started off fine, until the Reds came to the plate.
Dodger pitcher Charlie Haeger managed to give up four runs (Two of which were home runs) in the span of the bottom of the third inning. And by this time he only had one out. So veteran Jeff Weaver was sent in to get those dang outs and end the endless inning. If you are going to watch this game on tivo, I recommend fast forwarding to the seventh inning. With the game at 5-4 Dodgers after a Rafael Furcal solo shot, the Dodgers blew the game wide open and reminded Dodger nation that yes, it is possible for them to score runs. The scoring started with a Juan Pierre RBI to make it 7-4 Dodgers. Then came Matt Kemp's 3-run home run to make the game 10-4 Dodgers. Then to put the icing on the 6 run cake, Orlando Hudson hit a solo smash to make it 11-4 Dodgers. This was the final score as the Reds were not able to retaliate.Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-6057842268978001582009-08-18T10:28:00.000-07:002009-08-18T10:42:04.981-07:00We've Only Just Begun!

Finally! The receiving core is going to be better than people will think. Domenik Hixon and Sinorice Moss looked better than expected and showed the ability to consistantly catch the ball.

3. Yesterday Manning agreed to a contract extention that is reportedly worth $ 97 Millon for six years. Honestly, I'm glad they got this out of the way. It's nice to not have it hang over your head throughout the season. Did I honestly think he would become a free agent? No. He's the franchise QB and the Giants aren't about to let him go anywhere. Now the only thing that Eli has to do is make himself worth all this money. Now ideallically, it would be nice if he were to prove himself worthy of all this by winning a championship, but let's be realistic. The G-Men have a tough schedual and there is a lot of unknowns with the recievers. So, I think in the long run he will prove he's worth what he's being paid. I just don't think that it's going to show instantly.

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-13596960021365436592009-07-24T17:35:00.001-07:002009-07-24T18:38:19.257-07:00Use Those Freaky Hands!
Happy July 24th readers! This one is dedicated to the NFL Network's list of top 10 best hands. I'm here to recap the list and offer my opinion.
10. Marvin Harrison-I have no problem with this one. Now, considering that it's quite possible that Harrison will soon be a Giant, I might have a little bit of bias. Also, it's not that hard to catch the ball when you have Peyton Manning throwing to you.
9. Lynn Swan-This is about where he should be. But like Marvin Harrison, he also had a stellar quarterback throwing him the football in Terry Bradshaw.
8. Sterling Sharpe-There are so many better people to put in this spot. I would have even tolerated Randy Moss here. I think that the NFL Network is just catering to an employee here.
7.Jerry Rice-Yes folks, the greatest wide receiver of all time is only number seven. I think that Jerry Rice has as much of a claim to number one as anybody!! I don't think I've ever seen Jerry Rice drop a pass. Now, granted I know he has dropped passes before but come on. He's JERRY RICE!
6. Kellen Winslow-No, no Browns fans. Not your whimpy tight end Kellen Winslow. That's Kellen Winslow Jr. This is Kellen Winslow Sr. I think that this is an all right spot for Winslow. He had a spectacular build for a tight end and had the hands to complement it.
5.Fred Biletnekoff-Oh the Raiders of the 1970's! Those were the days! I think that Biletnekoff certainly deserves to be above this next guy...
4. Larry Fitzgerald-What!? are they kidding me? What has this guy done to put him ABOVE JERRY RICE?! now don't get me wrong, the kids got talent, but not above Jerry Rice type talent.
3. Steve Largent-I think that this is low! Largent basically made Jim Zorn what he is. This guy got open so much it looked like defensive backs were too slow to catch him! I think that Largent defiantly has a claim to number one.
2. Raymond Berry- Erh. I suppose this is okay. I honestly cant give an opinion on this. I have not seen a whole lot of his games. He also had Johnny Unitas to throw to him, which would make any Joe Schmoe look good.
(Que dramatic music)
The wide receiver with the best hands of all time is...
CHRIS CARTER?!
What the heck!? The only thing Chris Carter has achieved in his life is to annoy me profusely. This is the stupidest of the NFL Network countdowns by FAR!

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-86472548511635801102009-07-20T19:45:00.000-07:002009-07-20T20:02:37.080-07:00Time May Change Me, But I Can't Trace Time

All right. This one goes out to Tom Brady in hopes he goes down again. I really hate Tom Brady. I'm not gonna lie. However, I'm hoping to address the issue of sportscasters and their love for Bill Belicheat and his Patriots.
Why!? Just because Brady is back all of their problems are cured!? NO! how do they know that Brady will be the same quarterback that he was before the injury? It all has to do with his confidence. How will he react when he takes that first hit on the knee? And while they did get some youth in the draft, they are still pretty old and decrepit on defense. I just don't understand it.

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-29401240395126747122009-07-19T16:05:00.000-07:002009-07-19T16:19:48.419-07:00Happy Birthday to You!!

Wishing a happy birthday to Joe Torre yesterday! Perhaps the best present that Torre received came from pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who gave him a win against the Huston Astros. Giving up no runs in his six innings pitched, Kershaw was able to save the Dodgers from their third consecutive loss. Kershaw's hard work however, was almost undone by Jonathan Broxton and the bull pen as they gave up two runs.

-Kylie
Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-13654143865188351652009-07-16T18:15:00.000-07:002009-07-16T18:27:02.267-07:00"It's like a new pair of underwear. Anyway...

Well my readers, tonight marks the return of Manny Ramirez to Mannywood (aka Dodger Stadium). The big question of the day has been how will fans react? For some reason the Manny using steroids issue has not been a big factor for most Dodger fans. In fact, I know some that were counting down the days until his return. It's my opinion that all will go well tonight as the Dodgers take on the Huston Astros.

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-61154489542973716402009-07-13T19:57:00.000-07:002009-07-14T18:01:50.054-07:00I have to admit, it's getting better....

This post is dedicated to Max Hall in hopes that he will not suck this season. Now, last season, he had some difficulties when he actually had to play a good team. (TCU, Arizona, Utah) When he had to play a cupcake (UCLA, Wyoming etc.) he was just fine. This season won't be any easier. In fact it's gonna be a whole lot harder. The Heisman Trophy winner (Sam Bradford) isn't exactly going to lay down and die. Florida State isn't going to just go away. I'm honestly not sure about Tulane, I haven't seen any of their games! He won't be alone though. He may have lost Austin the fourth round draft pick Collie, but he has return missionary McKay Jacobson, who I remember as being pretty dang fast! The defense should be better as well. They are more experienced and should fare a whole lot better.
Well reader, here's hoping that this season is better than last!

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-54713159085112510562009-07-13T15:09:00.000-07:002009-07-13T19:57:41.012-07:00Future Ace

This one is dedicated to the Dodgers left handed stud with the spectacular curve ball: Clayton Kershaw. With a lowered ERA of 3.16 and a record of 7-5 the kid is showing promise. Granted he has his bad days, and when he's bad he's really bad. But he also has his really good moments (refer to the game in Florida against the Marlins when he nearly had a no-hitter) and when he's good he's really good. But he also has his o.k. days like the most recent start against the Brewers. In the end however, you would like to see him go maybe a little longer, into the 7th inning or even the 8th. Especially with the banged up Dodger bull pen. Another thing he needs to work on is obviously the amount of batters he walks. It would be nice to see that number decrease by a lot. But worry not! He's only 21 and has the rest of his career to improve. I think that in the end he's going to end up a really great pitcher. Especially with that killer curve ball (aka public enemy number one as Vince Scully dubbed it.)

-Kylie
Khizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-76371812751182128822009-07-07T18:59:00.001-07:002009-07-13T15:32:28.506-07:00My First Rant!
Mua ha ha! my first rant! the first thing you should know is my slang terms.
Philthy=Philly
Mcmuffin=McNabb
Ok so now on with my ranting!
This rant goes out to those of you who have partaken of the "Philthy kool-aide" and continue to ride the ugly bandwagon. I would love to know what it is that Philthy has done to convince you of their "Dominance". Was it the drafting of Jeremy Maclin? He's what 5'11 at the most? Know this my friends, speed does not a touchdown make. Does it help? yes it does, but speed alone will not help you much. Perhaps it's the "Jim Johnson defense". Now I've always been told that a great system functions well no matter the players in it. This may be however, let's see how well your defense functions when it's heart and soul is now in Denver. Now, it could be that Donovan Mcmuffin has convinced you that he has regained his "Swagger". However, one lucky playoff run does not make up for a season of crap. (To see my point refer to when Philthy played Baltimore last year) It couldn't possibly be Brian Westbrook! He just came back from a surgery and is getting older. So dear reader, I don't possibly see what Philthy has done to convince you that they could possibly surpass my beloved New York Giants? Now granted my beloved Giants do have a *cough* shortage at *cough* wide out but, it is my opinion that Hakeem Nicks should be better than expected.

CONGRATS! you survived my first rant! believe me there will be more to come!

-KylieKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8379607355383100521.post-43863834530083501012009-07-07T18:31:00.000-07:002009-07-07T18:38:17.156-07:00Welcome!"Where else would you rather be than right here right now?"-Marv Levy

Welcome my dear readers! this is my blog where I can rant and rave about anything sports related, and believe me, I have a lot to rant and rave about! At times I can assure you that I will be a big homer towards my favorite teams, but I will TRY to be as unbiased as possible! Now about my favorite teams: The New York Giants are my favorite football team, The Los Angles Dodgers are my favorite baseball team, Kasey Kahne is my favorite Nascar driver, I love the Utah Jazz and the Cleveland Cavs for the NBA, and I am a true blue BYU fan.

Be warned! My first rant is coming soon! ;D

-KhizzleKhizzlehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11021439392185280555noreply@blogger.com1
