When you read this post you all should be thinking of the song "Mr. Pitiful" by Matt Costa. I think the lyrics are pretty indicative of today's topic of discussion-The Giants season.

Yesterday marked the end of what was a very long and quite painful season for the New York Giants. Now, being as I'm a fairly new Giants fan (this is my second full season rooting for them) I've become accustomed to winning. So, naturally 8-8 is a big let down for me and the rest of Giants nation.
It was a season that held such promise but quickly evaporated into such crap that I no longer became disappointed when they lost. I came to expect it.





















It all began with the Saints obliterating the G-men on their way to 13-0. I had never seen them go down so hard, so I also took it hard. From then on the Giants plummeted, going from one of the best to one of the worst, and the words "Bill Sheridan" became four letter words.

The woe continued with the Philthydelphia Igglets sweeping them under the carpet in two blow-outs, a last second loss to now playoff bound San Diego, most recently a blow-out to Minnesota, an embarrassment against Carolina when they were literally fighting for their play-off lives, a Thanksgiving loss to the equally suckish Broncos, and one to the Cardinals.


















Now, who's to blame for the misery of this season? I go back to those two dirty words. Bill Sheridan.















I was highly disappointed to turn on ESPN this afternoon and only see that the Giants "are expected to fire" him. CAN HIS TRASH NOW. Tom Coughlin needs to stop beading around the bush and own up and fire him. Now granted, his cause wasn't helped at all by the injuries they suffered on defense (*cough* Kenny Phillips *cough*)

That man right there would have helped them immensely. THAT IS HOW TO TACKLE A WIDE RECEIVER.

I don't think that the players helped his cause either. The linebackers looked slow and couldn't cover a bed with a blanket, and the defensive line couldn't pressure a fifth grader. The main issue however, was the secondary. They practically stood there and handed out touchdowns to anyone who remotely resembled a wide receiver. HOWEVER, I don't think the players bought into Sheridan AT ALL and frankly, he couldn't call a defense if Spags was standing next to him telling him what to do.

One could possibly place the blame on Gilbride, but that's a bit of a stretch. The offense often had to play from way behind and it isn't built to do that.



















But, of all the darkness that was this season, there was a lone brightspot who really, in my opinion, earned all the money he's being payed.




















When it seemed like no one on this stupid team had any desire to win, Eli was always out there giving his all. He had arguably the best season of his career and yet he won't get a shot at ring number two because it's hard to orchestrate a win when your down 17-0 midway through the first quarter.

I was also pleased with the wide receivers which were the biggest question coming into the season. Steve Smith asserted himself as the #1 guy and had the best season of his career. It was also great to see the excellent play from rookie Hakeem Nicks (can someone say NFC ROY?) and the unknown Mario Manningham. It was not so great however to learn that Sinorice Moss was still busy being a waste of a roster space and that Dominick Hixon was still being thought of as a wide receiver.














In summary, I don't worry too much. What's done is done and there's nothing I can do to change that. The G-men will be back, stronger than ever I have a feeling. They'll work out the kinks and they'll also have big time players back from injury. Also, I don't know what kind of crap Plaxico has gotten himself into in jail, but he must have gotten into witchcraft because the Giants haven't been the same since he was all idiotic up in his leg's grill.

Lane Kiffin Fought the Law, And the Law Won.

Hope your all having a good Wednesday! It was a sort of eventful day in the world of sports, and this post also includes my picks for the COLLEGE FOOTBALL AWARDS
because frankly, I love awards shows.

In college football news-The University of Tennessee is under investigation by the NCAA yet again. What's happened now you may ask? well it seems in order to get a step up on the Urban Meyer recruiting robots, Kiffin has turned to using "hostesses" to get recruits. Hostesses are not the snack cakes, but the practice of using pretty co-eds to get young impressionable recruits to come to your school. We don't know the entirety of the situation just yet, but considering this is Kiffin's 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000th violation and he hasn't been fired yet, I wouldn't expect too much to happen.

In MLB/News that makes me wanna cry news-Randy Wolf was signed to a three-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers today worth almost $30 million. We'll miss you here in Dodgertown U.S.A. and we wish you the best.

In NHL News-Hawks play the Rangers tonight.

December, How You Are My Favorite Month!

It's finally good to be a Giants fan again! My G-men swept the cowgirls under the rug last night and were able to reassert themselves in the playoff race. The defense looked better than they had in recent games, and were able to shut down a very good Cowgirl running attack. They just have to work on the pass defense and I think we'll be set!

In college football news, everything that was supposed to happen did.

Alabama took down the all mighty Florida offense, and Tim Tebow acted like a girl about it.
Texas held on against HUGE underdog Nebraska, sneaking away to join the tide in the championship game.
Cinncinatti also creeped away with a win against rival Pittsburgh, earning them a spot in the Sugar Bowl against St. Tim's Gators.

TCU and Boise state were sent to the Fiesta Bowl, which is nothing new for Boise, and exciting stuff for the Horned Frogs. That should be a pretty interesting game to watch to see TCU's dominant defense against the high octane Bronco offense.

My BYU Cougars were banished yet again to the Las Vegas Bowl against the Beavers of Oregon State-Their going to get their trash kicked. Oregon State looked really good against Oregon and could have been in the Rose Bowl right now.

And in C0llege Football awards news, the three finalists for the Heisman Trophy are going to be announced here ASAP.
The Candidates include:
COLT MCCOY, QB, TEXAS




















McCoy has had a terrific season thus far, with the exception of the Big 12 Championship game, and now that Texas has their National Championship bid locked up, If I was him I don't think I would nessicarily want to win seeing the recent track record of Heisman Trophy winners in bowl games.

TOBY GERHART, RB, STANFORD




















Gerhart is one of the dark horses in this years voting. Gerhart put up amazing stats this season on a Stanford team that not only upset one BCS hopeful, but two! There is no denying his legitimacy however, just ask Charlie Weis.

MARK INGRAM, RB, ALABAMA



























After a phenomenal SEC Championship game, Ingram did all but cement his ticket to New York. He's been great all season and as of now is considered the favorite to take home the statue.

CJ SPILLER, RB, Clemson

















Spiller had a great SEC championship game (In a losing effort might I add.) and really made a strong case for himself as another dark horse in this year's race.

TIM "THE ALMIGHTY" TEBOW, QB, FLORIDA














While it's no secret that I loathe Tim Tebow with every fiber of my being, I can not deny his athletic acheivments. He's been a great college football player and is one heck of a leader who can get just about anyone to follow him. That being said, after him bawling his eyes out at the SEC championship game, I just can't get behind him.

NDAMUKONG SUH, DT, NEBRASKA


























Don't ask me to pronounce his first name because I couldn't. Suh had a FANTASTIC Big 12 championship, giving Colt McCoy and his Longhorns all they could handle. He's a great player who I predict is going to make serious coin in the NFL.

If I had a vote? I'd choose McCoy, Ingram, and Gerhart. I honestly don't see what the fuss is about with Spiller, one good game and he's crowned king? I don't think so. I'd also like to throw in a honorable mention to Suh, but I still don't think he's going to get it.
